Pioneering Cultivated Meat Research

I joined the cultivated meat industry in 2016 while studying to be a veterinarian at North Carolina State University.  After witnessing the animal welfare, environmental safety, and human health issues associated with traditional meat production firsthand, I decided to dedicate my life to making meat in a more humane, environmentally friendly, and safe way.

I left the veterinary field and became a Research Fellow with New Harvest and the Good Food Institute.  I pursued a Masters in Physiology, focusing on large-scale poultry muscle production.  During my research, I studied scaffold development with Dr. David Kaplan at Tufts University, and genetic engineering with Dr. George Church at Harvard Medical School.

Upon graduation, I joined Upside Foods and founded their media development department.  There, I spent 2 years formulating animal component-free media and developing cell lines.   I then moved to Sydney, Australia to join Vow Foods, where I gained experience growing meat from multiple species using high throughput robotics and large-scale DoE.

I have since started my own consulting firm to help companies, academics, and aspiring researchers bring cultivated meat to market as soon as possible!
