About Me

Hi, I’m Marie Gibbons, and I’m so glad you found your way here!

I’ve spent the last decade helping build the cultivated meat industry from the ground up, because I truly believe this work has the power to change the world. For me, it has always been about protecting animals, healing our planet, and creating a future where kindness and science work together.

I originally planned to become a veterinarian because caring for animals has always been at the center of who I am. But once I was accepted into vet school, I realized my purpose was leading me toward work that could transform the way meat is made and protect animals on a global scale.

That moment set me on the path to cultivated meat before most people had even heard of it. I joined a field that was still very new, because I believed in what it could become.

During my master’s at North Carolina State University, I worked on large-scale poultry muscle cell production with support from New Harvest and the Good Food Institute. From there, I followed every opportunity I could to learn, create, and push the science forward. I worked with incredible teams at Harvard Medical School, Tufts University, Upside Foods, Vow Foods, and New Form Foods, shaping early approaches to serum-free media, genetic engineering, and large-scale bioprocess design. Most recently, I co-founded Re:meat in Sweden and focused on finding realistic, cost-effective ways to produce cultivated meat at scale. That experience reminded me how important it is to not only advance the science but to ensure that the technology can actually reach the world.

Today, I work as an independent consultant, supporting companies, nonprofits, and academics who share the same vision I do. I help teams develop robust cell lines, design animal component free media, and create bioprocesses that are sustainable, scalable, and rooted in compassion.

This field is my life’s work, and I’m grateful you’re here to be a part of it!
